    About the Role

    As Director of Outreach, you are responsible for Opportune’s national outreach strategy and external engagement, with accountability for how the organisation builds relationships, expands visibility, and connects with partners across Australia.

    This is a senior volunteer leadership role combining strategic oversight with practical engagement. You will design and coordinate outreach initiatives, guide a distributed team of state-based outreach representatives, and work closely with other portfolios to ensure outreach activity is consistent, aligned, and effective.

    While outreach activities may be delegated, you retain overall responsibility for outreach standards, coordination, and strategic direction. Formal partnerships or commitments are progressed collaboratively and escalated for approval where required. This role suits people able to make a meaningful contribution over time, without fixed weekly hour requirements.

    Location: Remote (Australia-based preferred)

    Key Responsibilities

    National Outreach Strategy

    • Develop, implement, and oversee a coordinated national outreach strategy aligned with Opportune’s organisational objectives

    • Set outreach priorities, target sectors, and engagement standards across states and regions

    • Monitor outreach activity and outcomes, using insights to refine strategy over time

    Partnerships and External Relationships

    • Build and maintain relationships with external organisations, institutions, and stakeholders

    • Identify and progress potential collaboration opportunities, referrals, and strategic partnerships

    • Coordinate partnership discussions while escalating formal agreements or commitments for approval where required

    • Represent Opportune at relevant events, forums, and networking opportunities where appropriate

    State-Based Outreach Leadership

    • Lead, mentor, and support state-based outreach representatives

    • Provide guidance on outreach standards, messaging, and expectations

    • Coordinate outreach efforts nationally to ensure consistency and avoid duplication

    • Support onboarding and capability-building within the outreach team as required

    Outreach Materials and Resources

    • Oversee the development and maintenance of outreach materials, presentations, and proposals

    • Ensure materials are accurate, accessible, and aligned with Opportune’s brand and strategic positioning

    Cross-Team Collaboration and Lead Sharing

    • Work collaboratively with Operations, Marketing, and other teams to integrate outreach into broader campaigns

    • Share partnership leads and collaborative opportunities with relevant portfolios to support organisational outcomes

    Monitoring, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement

    • Maintain oversight of outreach activity, including partnership tracking and engagement outcomes

    • Provide regular updates and strategic insights to the Executive Director and leadership team

    About the role
    As a State Outreach Representative, you act as Opportune’s local connector within your state or territory. Your role is to ensure Opportune’s work is informed by local context, community needs, and emerging opportunities, while helping increase awareness of the platform among young people and youth-facing organisations.

    This is an advisory and representative role. You will support Opportune’s national outreach efforts by sharing opportunities, representing the organisation at local events, and contributing local insight that strengthens our overall impact. While you may identify opportunities or partnership leads, responsibility for formal agreements, vetting, and publication sits with the relevant Director and Operations teams.

    You will work closely with the Director of Outreach and collaborate with a network of state-based peers. This role suits people able to make a meaningful contribution over time, without fixed weekly hour requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Community Connection and Representation

    • Share Opportune opportunities and updates within your local community, both online and in person

    • Represent Opportune at local events, programs, or networking opportunities where appropriate

    • Act as a local point of contact for youth organisations, schools, and community groups

    Partnership Building and Local Engagement

    • Build and maintain relationships with community groups, schools, and youth spaces in your area

    • Identify potential local collaboration opportunities, such as events, campaigns, or initiatives, and share these with the Director of Outreach

    Local Insights and National Campaign Support

    • Provide regular feedback on local youth needs, trends, and emerging opportunities

    • Support the adaptation of national campaigns to better reflect your local context

    • Contribute local stories, insights, or highlights to support Opportune’s outreach and communications

    Opportunity Identification

    • Identify and share relevant local or regional opportunities with the Director of Outreach or Operations team for review and potential publication

    • Support the flow of local opportunity leads while recognising that vetting, publication, and follow-through are managed by Operations and Curation teams

    Team Collaboration

    • Participate in regular check-ins with the Director of Outreach and other State Outreach Representatives

    • Share updates, learnings, and ideas to support national alignment and continuous improvement
