Our focus is on closing the visibility gap between capable young people and the opportunities that can shape their futures. Opportune is entirely volunteer-powered, from our leadership team to our content creators. We’re here to ensure that every young person has the tools, networks and opportunities they need to thrive.

    About the Role

    As Director of Outreach, you’ll lead Opportune’s external engagement and partnership strategy, while managing a distributed team of state-based outreach representatives. You’ll work to expand our reach, strengthen relationships with key networks, and ensure that young people across Australia know about and can access our platform.

    This is both a strategic and hands-on role, you’ll design outreach initiatives, represent Opportune at events, and guide your team to deliver consistent, impactful engagement within their states and regions.

    Location: Remote (Australia-based preferred)
    Time Commitment: 10–15 hours/week, flexible
    Reporting to: Executive Director
    Status: Not currently recruiting but expressions of interest welcome

    Key Responsibilities

    National Outreach Strategy

    • Design and implement a coordinated national outreach strategy aligned with Opportune’s mission and priorities

    • Set clear targets for reach, engagement, and partnership development across states

    • Monitor outreach progress, collect impact data, and adjust strategy based on results

    Partnership Development & Relationship Management

    • Build and maintain relationships with key partners

    • Identify collaboration opportunities such as events, workshops, campaigns, and co-branded initiatives

    • Represent Opportune at conferences, panels, and networking events to expand our presence

    State-Based Team Leadership

    • Lead, mentor, and support a team of state-based outreach representatives

    • Coordinate regular team meetings to share updates, align priorities, and troubleshoot challenges

    • Provide resources, templates, and guidance to ensure consistent messaging and branding across states

    • Support the recruitment and onboarding of new outreach team members as needed

    Outreach Materials & Resources

    • Oversee the creation and maintenance of outreach resources, including presentations, flyers, partnership decks, and proposals

    • Ensure all materials are accessible, clear, and aligned with Opportune’s visual identity and values

    Cross-Team Collaboration

    • Work with the social media and marketing team to integrate outreach activities into broader campaigns

    • Share partnership leads and collaborative opportunities with the operations team

    • Contribute to organisational planning, particularly for events, external engagement, and impact reporting

    Monitoring & Reporting

    • Maintain a database of partnerships, outreach activities, and contacts

    • Track engagement metrics (e.g. number of events attended, partnerships secured, audience reach)

    • Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and leadership team

    What We’re Looking For

    • A strong commitment to youth empowerment, visibility, and access to opportunity

    • A genuine interest in the impact sector and the organisations driving change within it

    • Existing connections, knowledge, or experience that can help bridge Opportune into new networks and industries

    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

    • Experience leading distributed or volunteer teams

    • Strategic thinker with the ability to set targets and deliver results

    • Comfortable using tools like Google drive, Canva, and email marketing platforms

  • As a State Outreach Representative, you’ll be Opportune’s local connector in your state or territory, ensuring our work is rooted in the realities, needs, and opportunities of young people in your community. You’ll help share opportunities, grow awareness, and contribute local insights that strengthen Opportune’s national impact.

    You’ll work closely with the Director of Outreach and a network of state-based peers, representing Opportune at local events, building partnerships, and tailoring national campaigns to suit your community.

    Location: Remote (based in your home state or territory)
    Time Commitment: 2–4 hours/week, flexible
    Reporting to: Director of Outreach

    Key Responsibilities

    Community Connection & Representation

    • Share Opportune opportunities and updates within your community, both online and in-person

    • Represent Opportune at local events, programs, and networking opportunities

    • Act as a point of contact for local partners, schools, and youth organisations

    Partnership Building

    • Build and maintain relationships with community groups, schools, and youth spaces in your area

    • Identify local collaboration opportunities, such as events, campaigns, or youth initiatives

    Local Insights & National Campaign Support

    • Provide regular feedback on local youth needs, trends, and emerging opportunities

    • Adapt national campaigns and content to fit your community context

    • Contribute local stories, case studies, or highlights to Opportune’s relevant team

    Team Collaboration

    • Join regular check-ins with the Director of Outreach and other state representatives

    • Share updates, ideas, and outcomes to support national strategy alignment

    What We’re Looking For

    • Passion for youth empowerment, access, and visibility

    • Local knowledge and an interest in connecting with your community

    • Confidence in sharing opportunities in both digital and in-person spaces

    • Reliability and initiative in a flexible, volunteer role

    • No formal experience required, curiosity, creativity, and a collaborative mindset are valued

    • Bonus: Involvement in impact-sector networks, youth programs, or community leadership (formal or informal)
