Roles

  • The Opportune Foundation is a youth-led, volunteer-powered platform focused on making opportunities in the impact sector visible, accessible, and achievable for young people across Australia.

We connect emerging talent with curated programs, grants, internships, volunteering roles, jobs, and leadership pathways from purpose-driven organisations through a central, youth-focused platform. Our work centres on closing the visibility gap between capable young people and the opportunities that can shape their futures.

    About the Role

As Co-Director of Social Media & Marketing, you jointly lead Opportune’s digital presence, brand voice, and audience engagement strategy. Alongside a second Co-Director, you are responsible for how Opportune communicates, grows its community, and translates opportunities into visibility and action.

This is an executive-level volunteer leadership role that is both strategic and hands-on. While responsibility for delivery and quality is shared, the two Co-Directors may divide focus areas based on strengths. Typically, one Co-Director focuses on short-form content and engagement (e.g. Reels, TikTok), while the other focuses on long-form content, platform strategy, and editorial oversight (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram posts, newsletters).

You will set strategy, manage publishing cadence, oversee newsletters and the podcast, mentor contributors where relevant, and collaborate closely with Outreach, Operations, and other portfolios to ensure alignment with organisational priorities. This role suits people able to make a meaningful contribution over time, without fixed weekly hour requirements.
