About the Role
As Co-Director of Social Media & Marketing, you jointly lead Opportune’s digital presence, brand voice, and audience engagement strategy. Alongside a second Co-Director, you are responsible for how Opportune communicates, grows its community, and translates opportunities into visibility and action.
This is an executive-level volunteer leadership role that is both strategic and hands-on. While responsibility for delivery and quality is shared, the two Co-Directors may divide focus areas based on strengths. Typically, one Co-Director focuses on short-form content and engagement (e.g. Reels, TikTok), while the other focuses on long-form content, platform strategy, and editorial oversight (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram posts, newsletters).
You will set strategy, manage publishing cadence, oversee newsletters and the podcast, mentor contributors where relevant, and collaborate closely with Outreach, Operations, and other portfolios to ensure alignment with organisational priorities. This role suits people able to make a meaningful contribution over time, without fixed weekly hour requirements.

Strategy and Oversight
Set and oversee Opportune’s social media, digital marketing, newsletter, and podcast strategy
Align digital strategy with organisational goals, campaigns, and values
Maintain a forward content plan and publishing cadence across platforms
Social Media Content and Platforms
Oversee content creation, scheduling, and publication across primary platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Reels
Ensure content remains youth-focused, clear, and aligned with Opportune’s brand and messaging
Divide platform or content responsibilities collaboratively while retaining joint accountability
Indicative publishing cadence (guidance, not a fixed requirement):
Instagram: approximately one (1) post per week
Reels: approximately one (1) reel per week
TikTok: approximately one (1) post per week
LinkedIn: approximately one (1) post per week
Newsletter Management
Oversee planning, production, and distribution of Opportune’s newsletter
Ensure the newsletter is published on a monthly basis
Delegate drafting or design tasks where appropriate while retaining editorial oversight
Podcast Oversight
Manage the strategic direction and production schedule of Opportune’s podcast
Ensure the release of approximately one (1) podcast episode per month
Collaborate with Outreach and other stakeholders to identify and secure suitable guests
Delegate production, editing, or coordination tasks as required
Community Growth, Analytics, and Optimisation
Monitor engagement and reach metrics across platforms
Use insights to refine content strategy, growth approaches, and audience engagement
Identify trends in audience behaviour to inform future campaigns
What We’re Looking For
Strong understanding of social media strategy, digital storytelling, and youth engagement
Excellent communication and copywriting skills with a creative edge
Confidence working with tools such as Canva, scheduling platforms, and analytics dashboards
Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
Collaborative mindset and alignment with Opportune’s purpose and values
Bonus:
Experience working in a small or volunteer-led team with shared responsibility
Prior experience managing digital presence for a brand, campaign, or purpose-driven initiative

About the Role
As a Graphic Designer (Volunteer - Project Basis), you will support Opportune’s visual communications by designing creative assets for specific projects as required. This role is task- and project-based, rather than ongoing, and is ideal for someone who enjoys contributing design expertise flexibly without a fixed weekly commitment.
You will work under the direction of the Co-Directors of Social Media & Marketing, responding to design briefs for defined deliverables such as social media graphics, presentations, reports, templates, or campaign assets. While collaboration is encouraged, this role does not involve decision-making authority or responsibility beyond the agreed project scope.
Projects will be offered based on organisational needs and your availability, and you are free to accept or decline individual briefs.

Key Responsibilities
Design and Creative Delivery
Design digital assets including social media graphics, presentations, reports, templates, and marketing materials
Develop visual assets that align with Opportune’s brand guidelines and campaign objectives
Translate written briefs into clear, engaging, and accessible visual outputs
Project Collaboration
Collaborate with the Co-Directors of Social Media & Marketing and other relevant team members to clarify briefs and expectations
Ask questions or flag constraints early to ensure smooth project delivery
Revisions and Final Outputs
Make reasonable revisions within the agreed project scope and timelines
Deliver final files in formats specified by the Company by agreed deadlines
Ensure all assets are production-ready and suitable for their intended platforms
What We’re Looking For
Strong visual design skills and an eye for layout, typography, and consistency
Comfort working with digital design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Suite, Figma, or similar)
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines on a per-project basis
Clear communication and openness to feedback
Alignment with Opportune’s purpose and values
Formal design experience or qualifications are welcome but not required. Portfolio examples (formal or informal) are helpful but optional.
