About the Role
As Director of Operations, you’ll lead the systems, platforms, and people that keep Opportune running smoothly. You’ll oversee our website, keep our opportunities database current, ensure back-end systems are accurate, and directly manage the Opportunity Curation Coordinator and Community Engagement Coordinator.
Your role will combine operational leadership, digital management, and people coordination to ensure Opportune delivers a seamless, high-quality experience for both our volunteers and our audience.
This is a volunteer leadership role, offering the chance to shape the operational backbone and delivery capacity of a national, youth-led initiative.
Location: Remote (Australia-based preferred)
Time Commitment: 10–15 hours/week, flexible

Website & Platform Management
Manage and update the Opportune website to ensure all content is accurate, functional, and visually consistent
Regularly upload, categorise, and archive opportunities
Monitor website performance, troubleshoot issues, and liaise with tech support as needed
Opportunities Database & Back-End Systems
Maintain the internal opportunities spreadsheet, ensuring all listings are current and correctly categorised
Track closing dates, refresh expired listings, and coordinate with the Opportunity Curation Coordinator to source new content
Ensure back-end data is consistent across the website, spreadsheets, and organisational records
Team Leadership
Directly manage the Opportunity Curation Coordinator and Community Engagement Coordinator
Provide guidance, feedback, and support to ensure deliverables are met
Coordinate cross-team workflows to align content, engagement, and operational timelines
Operational Systems & Processes
Maintain and improve project management tools, shared drives, and workflow systems
Keep organisational resources, templates, and SOPs up-to-date and accessible
Streamline digital integrations to improve efficiency between website, data, and communications
Coordination & Governance
Provide operational updates to the Executive Director and leadership team
Ensure compliance with safeguarding guidelines, data privacy protocols, and internal policies
What We’re Looking For
Passion for youth empowerment and purpose-driven work
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in digital tools, website management, or database upkeep
Ability to lead and support a small volunteer team
Experience in operations, administration, project management, or digital content management (welcome but not essential)

About the Role
As Opportunity Curation Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in keeping Opportune a trusted, go-to resource for young Australians. You’ll lead the full opportunity content cycle, from sourcing and vetting to publishing and monitoring, ensuring everything we share is accurate, relevant, and accessible.
You’ll work closely with the Director of Operations, as well as the Community Engagement Coordinator, to keep our website, internal database, and promotional channels consistently updated and aligned.

Opportunity Sourcing & Vetting
Research and identify high-quality opportunities in the impact sector (programs, jobs, grants, internships, volunteering, leadership roles, etc.)
Verify the credibility, eligibility, and timelines of each listing before publishing
Spot trends and gaps in the opportunity space to guide sourcing priorities
Content Publishing & Quality Control
Format, categorise, and upload opportunities to the Opportune website in line with brand style and accessibility guidelines
Ensure all listings are written in clear language and are fact-checked for accuracy
Database & Back-End Management
Maintain the internal opportunities spreadsheet so it is always accurate, current, and aligned with the website
Refresh or remove expired listings and archive them for records
Track closing dates and flag urgent deadlines for promotion
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work with the Community Engagement Coordinator to promote priority listings in newsletters and on social media
Coordinate with the Director of Operations to refine sourcing processes, update SOPs, and troubleshoot issues
Monitoring & Reporting
Track basic engagement metrics for published opportunities to see what performs best
Suggest improvements to the sourcing, vetting, and publishing process to boost quality and efficiency
What We’re Looking For
Strong attention to detail and commitment to content quality
Passion for youth development and access to opportunity
Comfortable navigating websites, online forms, and shared drives
Organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently
Alignment with Opportune Foundation’s values
Prior experience with content management or digital tools is welcome but not required

About the Role
As Community Engagement Coordinator, you’ll ensure our audience stays informed, inspired, and connected. You’ll manage Opportune’s email communications and community updates, delivering curated opportunities, program announcements, and member spotlights in a way that is clear, compelling, and consistent.
This role goes beyond sending emails, you’ll help shape how we communicate with our network, keep our subscribers engaged, and strengthen our reputation as a trusted resource for young Australians. You’ll also oversee the Member Spotlight process, from selecting featured members to coordinating with the social media team for promotion.
You’ll work closely with the Director of Operations and Opportunity Curation Coordinator to ensure priority opportunities and updates are promoted effectively across channels.
Location: Remote (Australia-based preferred)

Key Responsibilities
Email Campaign Management
Draft, format, and send regular email updates and newsletters
Ensure all communications follow Opportune’s voice, accessibility standards, and visual style
Coordinate with the Opportunity Curation Coordinator to feature priority listings in each send
Audience & List Management
Maintain and manage subscriber lists, ensuring data accuracy and privacy compliance
Monitor list growth and recommend strategies to expand reach
Engagement Tracking & Reporting
Track key engagement metrics (opens, clicks, unsubscribes) to assess campaign performance
Provide basic reports to the Director of Operations to guide future content strategy
Member Spotlight Coordination
Select and schedule members to be featured in the Opportune Member Spotlight series
Gather necessary information, stories, and images from featured members
Coordinate with the social media team to publish and promote spotlights across relevant platforms
Maintain a record of past and upcoming featured members to ensure variety and representation
Community Connection
Support campaigns highlighting youth voices, community stories, and partner organisations
Identify opportunities to engage subscribers beyond email (e.g. surveys, calls to action, collaborations)
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work with the Director of Operations to align email and spotlight content with organisational priorities
Liaise with other team members to promote events, programs, and important announcements
What We’re Looking For
Strong written communication skills and a flair for clear, engaging messaging
Familiarity with email marketing tools (Beehiiv, Mailchimp, or similar)
Interest in community engagement, storytelling, and digital outreach
Attention to detail and ability to work to timelines
Alignment with Opportune Foundation’s mission and values
Prior experience in digital communications or marketing is welcome but not essential
