Youth Advisory Groups for the Australian Government Office for Youth
The Australian Government's Office for Youth is recruiting young people aged 16 to 24 to join one of five Youth Advisory Groups for 2026. These groups provide a direct channel for young Australians to connect with government, offering advice to Ministers and agencies on policies and programs. The roles allow you to make meaningful contributions to public sector administration across areas such as
Climate Change and Water Youth Advisory Group: Work with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water on adaptation projects and a national water agreement
Countering Foreign Interference Youth Advisory Group: Work with the Department of Home Affairs on foreign interference impacts (communities, universities, social media) and help co-design awareness and reporting tools
First Nations Youth Advisory Group: Work with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) on a new national cultural precinct celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and heritage
Mental Health Youth Advisory Group: Work with the National Mental Health Commission to co-create resources that reduce stigma, support open conversations, and encourage help-seeking
Sports Participation Youth Advisory Group: Work with the Australian Sports Commission to shape the Play Well strategy, making sport safe, inclusive, and fun for young people
This is a valuable opportunity to apply your lived experience and develop policy and advocacy expertise while working to improve outcomes for young people across the country.
