First Nations Engagement Officer World Food Forum Australia Youth Chapter

The World Food Forum Australia Youth Chapter (WFF AYC) is seeking a voluntary and unpaid First Nations Engagement Officer. This is an identified role open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only, aged under 35. The WFF is a global, youth led initiative established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), focused on sustainable agrifood systems. The Officer will work across all WFF AYC teams, including science, events, policy, education, and advocacy, to strengthen cultural connections, guide respectful engagement, and ensure First Nations food systems and perspectives are included in national and global initiatives. Key duties involve providing advice, supporting culturally safe approaches to partnerships and communications, and identifying opportunities for collaboration with First Nations organisations and knowledge holders. The time commitment is approximately 3 to 5 hours a week.

    • Must be based in Australia and under 35 years old.

    • Able to commit around 3–5 hours per week.

    • Passionate about youth leadership, food systems, and community led change.

    • Experience in engagement, advocacy, or project coordination is welcome but not required.
