Hansen Leadership Institute

The Hansen Leadership Institute is a prestigious three-week, fully funded, in-person program held at the University of San Diego. The Institute is dedicated to providing leadership training and skills development in international cooperation and conflict resolution for emerging young leaders from around the world. The program is fully funded by the Fred J. Hansen Foundation, covering international airfare, room and board, and all programmatic costs. Participants will engage in dynamic workshops and activities designed to foster mutual understanding and prepare them to be future peace builders.

  Applications close January 15 2026

  Program runs from July 1–22, 2026 (All fellows must attend the entire program)

  Results announced in early March (International applicants)

• 👥 Eligibility

  Applicants must be 20–25 years old on July 1, 2026.

  Must have completed at least one year of college or university at the time of application. Recent graduates (2024 or 2025) who are not currently enrolled are also eligible to apply.

  Application requires two references: one from an academic adviser/professor (who verifies English proficiency) and one from an NGO or community organisation.
