New Colombo Plan Alumni Network Lead
The New Colombo Plan (NCP) Alumni Representative opportunity is a leadership and engagement role coordinated through the New Colombo Plan Secretariat to strengthen connections between the Secretariat, alumni, industry and the broader community across Australia. One representative is appointed in each state and territory to act as a key liaison point, supporting alumni engagement and promoting the objectives of the New Colombo Plan.
The opportunity is open to NCP alumni who have completed either the Scholarship or Mobility Program and who have between two and six years of professional experience following their participation. Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, an understanding of the New Colombo Plan’s objectives and Phase 2 reforms, and active engagement with the Indo-Pacific region through personal or professional connections. Ongoing involvement in the NCP alumni community is also a core requirement.
Representatives lead community outreach activities, organise and support alumni events, and foster stronger connections between alumni, business, industry and other stakeholders. The role involves both in-person and online engagement and focuses on building vibrant alumni networks while advancing Australia’s Asia capability and Indo-Pacific literacy. Representatives also act as advocates for the New Colombo Plan, ensuring its impact and outcomes are visible at a local and national level.
Successful applicants receive up to A$3,000 per year in funding to support logistical costs associated with alumni initiatives and events. Intended outcomes include enhanced alumni leadership capacity, stronger cross-sector networks, deeper Indo-Pacific engagement, and sustained momentum for the New Colombo Plan within Australia’s professional and community spaces.
