Chenuli Kularatne

I’ve grown up between places, shifting cultures, cities, and communities. And while that’s taught me a lot, it’s also meant starting from scratch, over and over again. Each time, I had to rebuild my network, learn the system, and figure things out through a lot of trial and error.

Over the years, it’s made me realise that getting started in any field isn’t just about talent or hard work , it’s about having the right support at the right time. And too often, the people who are most capable get left behind, not because they aren’t ready, but because the system isn’t built to see them. That’s why Opportune felt like the right space, a chance to help bridge that gap.

As I currently study to become a social worker, I’m eager to bring my care for people, connection, and inclusive environments into a space that gives young people the light to grow. Having worked alongside career counsellors, I’ve seen firsthand how complex and overwhelming the process of finding the “right” path can be.

At Opportune, I’m excited to help make that process feel less confusing and less lonely! A space where people feel like they belong, even before they’ve had to prove themselves.

There’s something really special about helping someone take their first real step and I’m grateful to be part of a team doing just that.
